Do I have to wipe my phone before sending it?+
Yes — back up, sign out of your accounts (this removes Activation Lock on iPhone / the factory-reset lock on Android), and factory reset. We also re-wipe every device to the NIST 800-88 standard and email you a free Certificate of Data Erasure.
What's the most commonly forgotten step?+
Removing the SIM card (and any SD card), and signing out of iCloud or removing your Google account before the reset. Skipping the sign-out is the #1 reason trade-ins get held up.
